Medical Services / Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT Program)
Healing Hearts has a Medication Assisted Treatment program. We have a medical director on staff over Mansfield and Reynoldsburg locations. We collaborate with other area clinics to provide medication for our clients. We currently use suboxone, subutex, and vivitrol as our medication assisting treatment. Depending on the level of care a client needs, we can make arrangements for a detox or a residential program; or, the client can join our treatment in a Partial Hospitalization Program, an Intensive Outpatient Program or Outpatient Program. The typical steps to be accepted in our MAT program is as follows: A client’s insurance will be confirmed, and they will be scheduled for an assessment. A treatment plan will be developed. The client will be provided with information to get lab work. The client will begin attending our group and be scheduled with a medical professional. To be a client in our MAT program, we have requirements on group and individual counseling attendance, urinalysis results and medication audits. Any attempts at diverting medication will result in immediate termination from the program. The program typically follows this outline: attendance of an orientation; attend PHP 5 days a week; or, attend an Intensive Outpatient Group three times per week; or attend an Outpatient Group (dependent on identified ASAM level of care); complete one hour of individual counseling per week; complete medical visits and complete urinalysis testing and medication audits as requested.

Types of Therapies:
EMDR
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy is an integrative psychotherapy approach that has been extensively researched and proven effective for the treatment of trauma. EMDR has standardized protocols that has helped millions of people of all ages relieve many types of psychological stress.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
In all human beings, thoughts, emotions and behaviors have a fundamental connection. Cognitive behavioral therapy helps identify and modify dysfunctional thoughts and behaviors that underlie symptoms of co-occurring mental illness and substance use disorders. Therapeutic techniques focus on ways to change negative thoughts, patterns, and resultant behaviors.
Motivational Interviewing
Motivational interviewing is a goal-oriented, participant-focused process that engages individuals in the treatment process, decreases ambivalence and encourages increased personal drive. This counseling style helps participants develop coping skills, insight, and behavior that enhance their recovery and their sense of personal importance.
Treatment Therapies (SUD):
Matrix (Intensive Outpatient Programming)
The Matrix Model provides a framework for engaging abusers in treatment and helping them achieve abstinence. Clients learn about issues critical to addiction and relapse, receive direction and support from a trained therapist, and become familiar with self-help programs.
Treatment materials draw heavily on other tested treatment approaches and, thus, include elements of relapse prevention, family and groups therapies, drug education, and self-help participation.
Detailed treatment manuals contain worksheets for individual sessions; other components include family education groups, early recovery skills groups, relapse prevention groups, combined sessions, urine tests, 12‐step programs, relapse analysis, and social support groups. A number of studies have demonstrated that participants treated using the Matrix Model show statistically significant reductions in drug and alcohol use, improvements in psychological indicators, and reduced risky sexual behaviors associated with HIV transmission.
Facing Addiction (Aftercare)
Our continuing care program is based on Dr. Patrick Carnes’ 30 Task Model of recovery, an evidenced based program utilizing his workbook, “Facing Addiction”, and the “Recovery Zone”. Clients who participate in this level of treatment and complete the 30 tasks (see attached) have an 87% probability of leading a healthy, recovery based life. Healing Hearts Counseling Center is the first agency in Richland County to use Carnes’ 30 task model.
Living in Balance
Living In Balance is a research based, flexible, practical, and user-friendly substance abuse treatment curriculum that helps clients address issues in lifestyle areas that may have been neglected during addiction. The Living in Balance core curriculum includes twelve sessions that address basic issues commonly faced by clients in early recovery. Sessions address drugs of abuse, relapse prevention, self-help programs, mental and physical health, emotional and social wellness, sexual and spiritual health, daily living skills, and vocational and educational development.
